Getting the inspiration from the field trip to Áo Dài museum, where we discovered a lot of Áo Dài with different materials, colors, and patterns, ASVN continued exploring the “Fabric” topic by enjoying various creative activities as well as using fabric in Music and P.E classes.
We got started by letting our beloved children touch and play with assorted types of fabric. The littles ones were intrigued to make their own princess outfits, magic flying carpets, or use the microscope for having a closer look at the patterns as well as texture of the fabric. Furthermore, we also reflected and discussed in order to get more ideas and concepts of this topic. By exploring some familiar things such as kids casual wear or scarves, our kids wondered where fabrics came from, why they had various colors, and how to change a fabric from white to their favorite colors.
Inspired by these curiosities, we decided to investigate the cocoons, create clothes from fabrics, especially try to dye our white fabrics using different vegetables. Thanks to these creative activities, our beloved students not only recognized the wonder of cocoons, tried to be a “tailor” or “dyer”, but also developed their sensory skills by feeling diverse fabric texture as well as mixing varied vegetables to create their own natural colors.
In conclusion, ASVN wants to message our little students that the most interesting learning materials sometimes come from the nature, moreover, we can investigate lots of new and useful knowledge from them.
